Windows 8 is the latest PC operating system from Microsoft. It aims to provide a uniform user experience across PCs, laptops, tablets and phones. At this early stage CiCS is only able to offer limited support for Windows 8. We cannot guarantee that all our services work with it. This web page will evolve as we learn about Windows 8 and can offer real guidance.
Having launched a new managed computing service based on Windows 7 there are currently no plans to develop a new managed service based on Windows 8.
Should you Upgrade?You need to consider what happens if things don't work for you. You should try to verify that all the applications & services you need will be available. Buying Windows 8Windows 8 will be made available for staff on University computers. Students can find some cheap deals online. Windows 8 SecurityWindows 8 comes with Windows Defender pre installed.
