Maths Exercise

For many years we have admitted students with non A-level qualifications. Although such students thrive in some parts of our programme we have noticed that they are less likely to be successful in the more mathematical parts. We are keen to take non A-level students because their different backgrounds enrich the experience of our student body - but we do want all our new students to thrive.
In order to make sure that you have a good chance of successfully completing one of our programmes we are asking applicants from certain backgrounds to complete a maths exercise during their visit. The topics covered by the exercise are
- Algebraic manipulation
- Complex numbers
- Trigonometry
- Logarithms
- Differentiation of polynomial expressions
- Differentiation of sin, cos and exponential expressions
- Integration of polynomial expressions
- Integration of sin, cos and exponential expressions
and we are interested in the way you approach the problems presented and the manipulative skills that you demonstrate because this will help us tailor any extra support in maths that you may need in your first year with us.
