What are your main responsibilities?

Post-acceptance coordination of multi-utility projects.

What other jobs have you had since graduating?

I was also a Project Engineer.

How has your degree from the School of English and your time at the University of Sheffield helped you in your career?

My degree provided access to an administrative graduate job. Linguistics is a structured and analytical field, which has helped me develop transferable skills that I use today, such as triangulation of figures and resources, and structure and organisation.

What is your greatest achievement to date?

Designing and project managing switchboards for Block A-D of the new Amazon iPort in Doncaster.

What career advice would you give to a student interested in studying English?

People will tell you that English is a dead-end field unless you want to become a teacher. Completing a degree with the University of Sheffield is a rigorous and rewarding adventure which will open doors regardless of what field you study. If English is your passion, then follow your heart - as long as you work hard, there will always be opportunities post-graduation. Many of my university friends loved the course so much that they’ve further completed their post-graduate at the University of Sheffield, and are now working towards their PhD.
