Physical Wellbeing & Leisure
The University is committed to promoting well being as a means of sustaining excellence in its staff and students and of incorporating world class practice into its everyday life.
The University is in the process of developing a new and highly innovative “Work Well” strategy to address the three strands of wellness - one of which focusses on the physical - so please keep a watch this space for new initiatives such as the Stay Active Challenge.
For staff at the University of Sheffield, we are running outdoor 'bootcamp' sessions to help you all keep moving. These are tremendously varied sessions that include cardio & resistance exercises and a typical class will include various traditional cardio moves such as star jumps, squat thrusts, spotty dogs or burpees, as well as functional bodyweight exercises e.g squats, lunges, press ups, abdominal crunches and the plank. Regardless of whether you’re a complete beginner, or a seasoned athlete, all can be worked at in your own pace, and will be instructed by professionals to ensure you have impeccable technique.
We always ensure sessions are fun and varied, including team games, races, pair work, power walking, jogging and sprinting (depending on your fitness level), cardio & resistance exercises that will work all the major muscle groups - ensuring maximum calorie burning both during & after your work out.
Remember whatever your fitness level - absolute beginner to super fitness fanatic, we will push you to the next level to reach your goals.
