Tasdidaa Shamsi
Tasdidaa graduated from the University of Sheffield with a BEng in Biomedical Engineering in 2007.
Sheffield was very welcoming when I came here for my Open day back in January 2004. Originally I was supposed to go to another university for Medicine but when I came here, I had decided by the time I first set foot in Sheffield, this was the university I wanted to be in. I fell in love with my course as well. I'm studying Biomedical Engineering and am getting best of both Engineering and Medicine. I always loved science. What more could I want?
In one word Sheffield is `beautiful´. I really love and can fully accept this place as my second home. The local people are very friendly and helpful. The transport services are good. The city is situated on top of 7 hills just like Rome. There is a lovely rural feeling though it is the fourth biggest city in England.
In my spare time, I go to the BDSoc and we hold a social every weekend. Otherwise I love reading and walking around. Sheffield is close to the Peak District, another reason why I chose the university. It is really hard to get bored in Sheffield. There is always so much to do!
It was hard to leave home for the first time. I was just 17. I had to leave my parents and brother and come to this extremely different culture but I am really glad I did. I am a much more matured as well knowledgeable person now.
Sheffield is one of the friendliest cities in UK so do not worry. There is help available regarding anything and everything everywhere.
