Literature Searches

ScHARR staff can request small-scale literature searches via the Information Service @ ScHARR Library.

For Enquiry Desk literature searches, 4-5 key sources will be searched, covering one or more of the major health and social care databases (e.g. The Cochrane Library, MEDLINE, EMBASE, Social Sciences Citation Index), one or more specialist databases (e.g. AMED, PsycINFO, CINAHL), as well as other relevant resources (e.g. HMIC, Google).

Wherever possible, searches will be conducted within 14 days of receiving a request. Every attempt will be made to meet more urgent deadlines.

If you would like to request a literature search on a health or social care topic, please download and complete the form under 'Downloads' on the right-hand side of this screen or contact the Enquiry Desk on (0114) 222 5420.

If you would prefer to learn more about the searching process yourself, a one-to-one literature searching training session can be arranged with one of the information officers.

There is no cost to ScHARR staff for small-scale literature searches.

Searches requiring more extensive input (e.g. for systematic reviews and other funded research projects) are charged for. Further details are available from Acting Group Manager for Information Resources, Angie Rees on 01142 220725.
